瑞嚴寺是日本東北地區第一名刹，是傳承桃山建築風格的伊達政宗菩提寺

其前身是由慈覺大師圓仁于828年創建的延福寺，現在的建築是1609年由仙台藩主伊達政宗花費整整4年的歲月建造而成

此時更名為瑞嚴寺

面向松島灣的瑞嚴寺，杉林矗立

其歇山式結構本瓦頂正殿、仿唐風建築風格的御成門、蔓藤花紋和花型肘木雕刻精美的庫院回廊被指定為國寶，御成門和中門等為重要文化遺產

 從外苑進來

會先看到一尊醒目的地藏王菩薩石像

以及一顆菩提樹

在往裡走，就會看到一個很大的『鰻塚』

參拜道一旁是樹立著三十三座莊嚴慈瑞觀音石雕像的巨大瑞嚴寺洞窟遺跡群

古老的松島被日本人稱為『奧州の高野』，是一片不受污染，充滿神祕又有靈性的巨木淨土

許多人到這裡來祈求往生後的寧靜

瑞嚴寺洞窟群自從西元1192年鎌倉時代開始，就有人在這些大洞穴安置骨灰，作往生紀念儀式，一直到江戶時期末（1603-1867）才逐漸式微

觀世音菩薩有三十三種化身，所以這裡便將所有化身的樣子製作成雕像

走著走著，發現一個造型奇特的石頭～石蟾蜍

或許是早年雕刻的作品，上頭長滿了青苔

參道的最後頭是火車紀念碑

以紀念開鑿東北鐵路的殉職者

在參道的左方盡是古木參天

接著就看到瑞嚴寺的正門了

因為時間的關係，凌雲並沒有進去參訪

只在外頭繞繞

瑞嚴寺外頭有著一尊很大的青銅製延命地蔵，於１８６３年鑄造

右手持杖左手持佛珠，主要是為替飽受戰亂飢荒之苦的小孩祈福， 希望他們能健康長大

還有一個超大的佛教法器

在瑞嚴寺一旁的是圓通院

這是伊達正宗的孫子～伊達光宗的靈廟

也是因為時間的關係，凌雲沒進去走走

但從外面就可以看得出來，裡面的紅葉超美
